We have Baccarat knives but a year ago I bought Avanti Couteau knives from Victoria's Basement and have been really happy with how they've retained their sharpness. The handles aren't thick or bulky making them easy to use. My cooking weapons of choice are my 4" and 8".
Years ago I bought my husband a really good set of knives. His father was a chef so they were very particular. Me, I don;t care so much and I'm not sure what brand they are.
